Meet the Team - Fiona Mertz

With 17 years of experience in the welfare area, Fiona has extensive knowledge in working with children and families. Fiona has undertaken work in program coordination, project reviews, event management, staff recruitment and supervision of staff. She also has extensive experience in case management and youth mentoring programs.

Fiona has worked in senior roles including managing a Child Protection team. One of her passions in this area was staff coaching.

Another important aspect of her work has been working with the Aboriginal community. Together with her team, Fiona won a “Highly Commended” award at the National Child Abuse Prevention Awards in 2001 for the development of a culturally sensitive tool relating to Family Preservation work.

Fiona holds a Bachelor of Arts, with majors in Psychology and Microbiology. Having lived and worked in the Moulamein and Swan Hill area for all of her life, Fiona has established excellent networks and is well versed in working with the local community.
