Project Title: Early Literacy, Language and Communication Project

Project Overview: The Early Literacy Project will plan community wide activities across the Swan Hill LGA that raise and promote the awareness of the value of early learning.  The activities will be planned in partnership with education providers, schools, business, and parents.  All activities will be planned with respect for the cultural diversity of the site.  Parent groups and activities will encourage the formation of links with each other and the opportunities to form relationships to address social isolation. Activities will include the wide range of developmental needs associated with language and literacy development including verbal and non verbal communication, language development, social interaction and reading. Language and literacy development activities will occur in a range of settings, for example, community groups, schools or preschools, public precincts such as shopping centers or shops, services, sporting or entertainment venues and homes.

Evaluation Support: Local Logic Place has been contracted for the 2007/2008 yr to provide overall evaluation support to the Early Literacy project for both Swan Hill and Robinvale.
